Why Do People Have Laser Hair Removal?

Hair removal is typically a personal choice, however there are some medical conditions that are eliminated with hair removal, such as a propensity of having ingrown hair.Loving couple

There are many methods of hair removal, although most of them are temporary, including shaving, waxing, tweezing, and cream depilatories which disolve the hair. Permanant hair removal techniques include lasers and electolysis. Unlike electroysis, Laser Hair Removal is very cost effective, fast, and virtually painless.

With permanent hair removal, you no longer need to worry about unwanted facial or body hair returning. Society has been trending toward a cleaner, smoother body, and fashion is dictating smooth hair-free skin for both men and women.

How Does Hair Removal Work?

Hair follicleThe laser emits an invisible light which penetrates the skin without damaging it; it is then absorbed by the pigment of the pilous follicle. The laser light selectively absorbed by the follicle damages its functions and impairs its ability to fabricate hair. At the level of the pilous follicle, the laser light absorbed by the pigment is then transformed into heat which damages the hair but not the surrounding skin.

The most important success factors with the Laser Hair Removal operation are the hair color of the patient and his/her skin type. Results show that the removal is most successful on people with dark hair and light skin. So, the treatments may not be advised for those who have grey, light, or very blond hair. You will be advised of how successful Laser Hair Removal will be for you during your free personal consultation.

Is Hair Removal Permanent?

Yes. However, you will need to have several treatments to complete the program. This is because the life cycle of a hair is divided into three phases, the actively growing (Anagen) phase, the transitional (Catagen) phase, and the resting (Telogen) phase.

During the anagen phase, protein and keratin are continuously made. It is during this phase that the hair shaft is manufactured and pushed upward to its natural length. Note the large healthy bulb at the hair base. A hair's anagen, or growth phase, lasts from 3 to 5 years, and represents what is occurring to about 90% of the hair on your head at any given time.
Hair follicle life cycle
In the catagen, or transitional phase, there are chemical and structural changes in the hair follicle. The hair stops growing, and remains in this phase for only two to three weeks before moving into the next phase.

Finally, hair enters the telogen phase where it basically just sits on your head for about 3 months. Then, it falls out only to be replaced by the next budding hair in the anagen phase which begins to grow from the same hair follicle. These replacement hairs get finer and thinner as a person ages. In most settings of baldness, the hair follicle simply shuts down and refuses to put out more hair to replace the ones that have fallen out.

How many treatments will it take? How Many Treatments Are Needed?

While the number of treatments vary from person to person, on an average, everyone requires at least three treatments for good results. This is typical because while all hair is temporarily disabled during each treatment, not all of the hair follicles are removed. Hence, a sequence of treatments is necessary in order for results to become apparent.

Overall, most people do not require more than six treatments, though people with hormonal imbalances or people who normally wax or pluck a lot may require more sessions.
